How is Northeastern a "lesser" team than PC? They beat PC at the Dunk last year...

  • 3:17 PM KMac - Do Math on Will PC be first Big East team to lose a game?

You do realize if these teams were underdogs, they would be receiving points, right? So it would be: Seton Hall (+3) at Cornell, DePaul (+9) at Northern Iowa, and Providence (+6) at Alabama. You wrote the opposite.

It really was a pleasure to see URI in a venue such as the Pizzitola Center, where every seat it a good seat.

I think what Mr. Donaldson is trying to say is that there are certain expectations, of the coach and the players, from the Providence fans. I think everyone can accept that. But I think the 'fans' should also remember that these rankings don't mean anything. Rankings are based on numbers and basketball wins are based on how the team plays on the floor. Hopefully the 2010 kids and the class of 2009 will develop into a great team and bring some exciting winning basketball to this area. Everyone knows that winning is so much more fun that not winning-but I also hope the oh so "intelligent Providence fans" can remember that these are college kids, playing a game, and being disruptive, unsportsmanlike and negative behavior when the team's not winning takes the fun out of it for everyone.

Well deserved. Although it's funny because he might not even see a lot of time at PG this year! Let him shoot wild.

Until they start winning games, they're probably not going to be able to give those tickets away. Nice try, though.

really people - it's not that bad. i don't expect to routinely win recruiting battles with BE schools. Robinson's a good coach and it just worked with Collier. Carter Williams went to Syracuse...I mean, c'mon, it's not like he decided on Sacred Heart. PC needs to win more games, then those battles will tip. if ten years from now Keno is losing these, then complain. Until then...give it some time.

Agree. This and the Carter-Williams choice shouldn't surprise anyone. Realistically, Young is the type of recruit that will be typical. One who flies under the radar with a couple of holes in his game. "Will he develop enough by the junior season" is what will be asked about the recruits.

No Surprise here. Par for the course. Mediocre program. Root like heck for them every year. But it is what it is. Wish the school would get serious about changing, but oh well.

  • 3:48 PM KMAC is a 'Cuse Alum on Syracuse hoop loses to....LeMoyne!

No -- the talent disparity is HUGE. How many D2 players are lottery picks? How many go on to the NBA? The talent disparity is very notable. Just because you're a 'Cuse alum, don't try to sugar coat it. Remember, this is the same Syracuse team ranked 25th in the nation. Just ask Bryant what the transition to D1 was like last year. They didn't even crack to top 300...

  • 4:38 PM Kevin McNamara on St. Andrews guard picks Syracuse

The practice of top recruits verbally committing to accept a scholarship when they finally graduate from high school is more than a bit bizarre. As many fans know, kids can commit any time they want but there is a chance he never attends the school. A kid's grades may falter, a coach could leave the school of choice, a school could back off a recruit over time. That said, Syracuse clearly wants Mike Carter-Williams and he wants them. He is a fine student and will use his next two years at St. Andrew's to prepare for the challenge of playing at a big-time program. Good luck to him.
