uri_0925.jpgKINGSTON, R.I. (AP) -- Travis Hurd scored on a 3-yard run with 1:13 left and former Toll Gate star Doug Johnson had an interception at the 15-yard line to give Rhode Island a 21-17 win over Fordham on Saturday.

Rhode Island (1-2) trailed for the first time in the game after Peter Maetzold's 19-yard touchdown run put Fordham (1-2) ahead 17-14 with 3:52 to play.

Rhode Island then marched 78 yards on eight plays for Hurd's second TD of the game.
After big plays from Maetzold, including a 13-yard run and a 22-yard pass, Fordham got into Rhode Island territory at the 21-yard line on second-and-10, before Maetzold threw the game-clinching interception.

Hurd, who finished with 112 yards on 26 carries, was one of three Rhode Island players to run for more than 100 yards. Anthony Baskerville had 120 yards on 12 carries and Deontray Johnson ran for 107 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.
