In Shaquille O'Neal's new book, 'Shaq Uncut,' which he wrote with ESPN's Jackie MacMullan, he says that a wisecrack made by President Obama was to blame for Rajon Rondo's poor shooting down the stretch.
During an encounter with some Celtics players at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston in March, Obama pointed at Rondo and joked to Ray Allen, "Hey, Ray, why don't you teach this kid how to shoot?"
Though Rondo played along, the gibe hit home and Rondo shot poorly for the rest of the season, said Shaq.
"I think it was a real jolt to hear the outside perception of a basketball fan who happens to be the President of the United States. It messed with his mind. I'm sure of it,'' O'Neal said.
