PROVIDENCE - It wasn't easy and it certainly wasn't pretty but the Providence Friars have just hung on and beaten Bucknell, 76-65, in their second of three games of the World Vision Invitational.
PC struggled with it shooting most of the way and could not muster enough defensive stops until the game's final seven minutes. PC trailed at the half (36-34) and didn't grab the lead for good until Brian McKenzie hit a 3-pointer at the seven minute mark. PC went up 61-55 but didn't put the game away until the final two minutes. A 65-61 lead grew to 70-61 after a hard-driving shot by Greedy peterson and a huge open 3-pointer by Sharaud Curry.
Curry struggled with his shot (3-of-14) but made the key three and several big free throws down the stretch that iced the game. Curry led the Friars with 17 points. Marshon Brooks added 15.
PC will face Mercer (2-0) in Sunday's final game of the tournament.
