A warning to the Providence Friars and their fans: watch out for Vermont.

The Catamounts, 2-1 with two wins on the road, come to the Dunk Tuesday to face the Friars (3-1). Vermont boasts a lineup filled with upperclassmen and an elite talent in forward Marqus Blakely. The Cats just won at Rutgers, 77-71, and have also won at Buffalo.

There is a heavy local connection for UVM. Two St. Andrews School grads, Joey Accoui of North Providence and big man Garrett Kissel, come off the bench for coach Mike Lonergan. Accoui is off to a slow start (1-of-8 on threes) but can be very dangerous. Kissel loves to pound the glass. Another UVM reserve is Ben Crenca, the Exeter native who prepped at Worcester Academy.

The National Prep Showcase moved from Bryant University to New Haven and took place the last three days. All the best prep teams in New England and the East were there, including St. Andrews. Ricky Ledo went for 27 points in the Saints' opening game but that wasn't enough to prevent a 10-point loss to New Jersey's Blair Academy. Here is a rundown of Sunday's games.

Two other notes from th eevent. First, SA's Michael Carter-Williams, the guard who commited to Syracuse last month, hurt his hip in the Blair game. The injury may be quite serious. Coach Mike Hart said an MRI will be run today but his point guard could be gone for up to a month.

Also, future URI guard Billy Baron and PC signees Ron Giplaye and Gerard Coleman all looked good in ther team's games in the event. Here is another link from Rivals.com where Coleman sees a lot of love.
