SOUTH KINGSTOWN - The University of Rhode Island scored its second recruit for 2010 today when former Chicago-area schoolboy star Kyle Cain verbally committed to the school.

Cain, a 6-7 forward, visited URI this past weekend for the opening of practice. He is enjoying a year of prep school at New Hampton School in New Hampshire and picked URI after narrowing his list of schools to Rhode Island, Northern Illinois, Nevada and Wisconsin-Green Bay. Butler starred this past summer on the AAU circuit for the Illinois Warriors.

Cain's commitment comes on the heels of the Rams landing Billy Baron, the former Hendricken All-Stater and the son of Rams' coach Jim Baron.

"Baron is a good player's coach and Kyle felt comfortable with Jim," said Larry Butler, the coach at the Illinois Warriors. "He also liked the players, the style of play and the league Rhode Island plays in."
