Billy Baron has decided to follow his brother and play basketball at the University of Rhode Island.
Baron, a star at Hendricken for the last four years who is now attending Worcester Academy, had told scouts as recently as several weeks ago that he was open to talking to and visiting other schools. After an impressive summer on the AAU circuit, his stock had risen. He has been contacted by Marquette, Georgia Tech, Stanford and Vanderbilt, among others. The 6-1 guard made unofficial visits to Rutgers and Davidson.
However, he said Saturday that his heart is at URI, where his dad, Jim, is the coach and his brother, Jimmy, excelled for four years.
"I love this place. In fact I'm here in the gym right now," he said by phone Saturday night. "I'm doing a Jimmy Baron. I'm playing in the dark. I've been here since I was 10 or 11. This is where I want to be."
Players can sign national letter of intent in November.

Very cool. I'm a Friar fan but I wish Mr. Barron the best of luck.
