The AP preseason top 25 poll has just been released. Kansas received 55 of the 65 first place votes. The Big East had five teams in the poll, led by #5 Villanova and #8 West Virginia. The USA Today coach's poll has six Big East teams in its poll. The Big Ten has six teams in the AP's preseason poll. The Atlantic Coast Conference had four and the Big 12 and Southeastern Conference three each.
Here is the poll, with first-place votes in parentheses, final 2008-09 records, total points based on 25 points for a first-place vote through one point for a 25th-place vote; last year's final ranking:
