One night after the PC Friars beat the number-one team in the country, URI Rams fans got their chance to storm the court at the Ryan Center after their team won of the most dramatic -- and pivotal -- games of the season.

Marquis Jones hit a contested, off-balance layup just as the game clock expired to give URI a 93-91 victory over Dayton. The Flyers had just tied the score at 91 on a 3-pointer with 13.8 seconds remaining by Marcus Johnson.

Dayton got its first lead since there were 14 minutes left in the first half when Johnson hit a jumper in the first minute of overtime. The lead changed hands five times after that in the extra period. Rhode Island took an 89-88 lead with just over a minute remaining when Jimmy Baron hit a 3-pointer from the corner after he picked up a loose ball following a Keith Cothran miss.

After Dayton threw up an airball on the next possession, Baron fired the ball downcourt to an open Cothran, who was credited with a basket on a goal-tending call. That set up Johnson's game-tying 3 and Jones' game-winner.

Baron, Cothran and Kahiem Seawright each had 19 points for Rhode Island; Seawright got 13 of his points in the final eight minutes of regulation plus overtime. Johnson led Dayton with 21.

URI improves to 10-4 in the Atlantic 10 and 21-8 overall, while Dayton falls to 9-4 and 23-5. For the moment the Rams are in sole possession of second place in the Atlantic 10.
