Number one is coming to town.

The slumping Providence College Friars may need a win as badly as anyone in the Big East but they'll find the country's new top-ranked team standing in their way Tuesday night at The Dunk.

Thanks to Texas' upset of Oklahoma last night, Pittsburgh is poised to move from fourth to first when this week's polls are released Monday. The Panthers enjoyed a huge week, knocking off current No. 1 Connecticut in Hartford and then beating up on hapless DePaul Saturday.

PC is 1-10 versus Number Ones over the years. The only win came in what many fans still call the best game ever played in Providence when the Friars shocked Michigan in the 1976 INBANK Classic. PC last played a No. 1 team when UConn came to town in 2006. UConn was ranked second when the Friars battled the Huskies last month in Storrs.

Each of the top three ranked teams in the country lost this week, building on a season-long trend that promises a wide-open NCAA Tournament. No. 1 UConn lost to Pitt; No. 2 Oklahoma fell to Texas and No. 3 North Carolina lost at Maryland.
