Friars Close in on Juco Recruit

By KEVIN McNAMARA PROVIDENCE - There was a large, lanky recruit sitting behind the PC bench during last night's Rutgers game and it appears he wants to be a Friar. Russ Permenter, a 6-9 junior college player from Temple. Tex., is being chased hard by PC and may have even committed before flying back home today. All we know about the Texan right now is that PC is the lead dog in his recruitment and has done a fine job keeping this one under the radar. Until now. Here is a nice feature story on Russ that explains that he enrolled at Texas-San Antonio last season but left and is now at a JUCO. Now it looks like he'll be playing in the Big East.
