Despite a home loss that did severe harm to his team's NCAA Tournament hopes, PC Friars coach Keno Davis said his team has three meaningful games left in the season, and if the Friars "can somehow find a way to beat [Pittsburgh on Tuesday], people will probably forget about this game pretty quickly."
Davis said he tried a lot of different things defensively today, but said that none of them worked very well. The team came out in a zone, but Notre Dame was so hot from 3-point range that the Friars had to bring pressure on the shooter. In the second half, PC was much more aggressive on defense and the Irish didn't shoot well from 3-point range, but Luke Harangody was able to dominate inside while other players found open lanes to the basket.
Davis said the most disappointing statistic to him was Notre Dame's 46-32 rebounding advantage. He said he didn't have an explanation, but offered that "I think we got so spread out by their 3-point shooting that we weren't in very good position."
Keno is trying to paint a non desperate picture but it is what it is. PC's defense is maybe the worst in many years. They can't stop anyone. By losing a double digit lead to Marquette and this game to Notre Dame you just sealed your NIT bid. What a huge dissapointment for this senior laden team. They will not care about an NIT tourney game at all. Tried to be positive all season but this is a failure only beating one upper echelon team Syracuse who was short 2 starters. Just proves that defense wins and the Friars defense was horrendous all season.

The NIT may not be a problem if this team loses out over the remaining 3 games. The NIT isn't as automatic for a Big East also-ran as it has been in the past.
I agree that the NIT would be an exercise in futility for this senior-laden team. To what point? If this were a young team, maybe. But, why prolong this season. Time to look forward and turn the page on this class.

i guess i was right---game was only big for notre dame and they sure played like it.friars are garbage-this team is impossible to root for.the worst defensive team i have ever seen in any sport on any level.defense is mostly effort so that tells you what this sorry team is all about.keno sounds like a dope apologizing for these stiffs.if this season proved anything it's justification for tim welsh as a coach.lack of talent is excusable if a team goes all out--this group of forgettable friars only concerned about scoring points.
