STORRS, CT. - The No. 2 ranked UConn Huskies are clinging to a 38-34 lead at the half as the Providence Friars have refused to go away in a key Big East game.
The lead changed 10 times in a well-played first half that featured some strong UConn defense highlighted by 10 blocked shots. The Friars continually got to the rim but Hasheem Thabeet (5 blocks) and his teammates kept denying the visitors at the rim.
The Friars shot 37 percent in the half but 50 percent (15-of-30) on shots that were not blocked. Jonathan Kale continues to be unguarded at the foul line and he's hit five shots and leads PC with 10 points.
AJ Price is the only Husky making jump shots (2 threes) and leads UConn with 10 points. UConn is winning the rebound battle, 26-22.
