URI has had to improvise with its lineup because of problems with its two leading scorers, but the Rams have done it well enough to lead Akron, 36-25, at the half.

Jimmy Baron has had to sit for much of the half after picking up two early fouls. He has only three points. Kahiem Seawright hurt his lower back on a fall under the basket and spent part of the half in the locker room, although he did return to action. He has only four points.

Delroy James has been the star so far. He came off the bench to score 10 points, to go along with four rebounds and three assists. URI, playing zone for part of the half, has held Akron to 9-for-28 shooting, 3-for-15 on 3-pointers.

Will Martell got the start at center, his first. He has four points.
