Projo SportsTalk with Paul Kenyon -- Are the Rams ninth-best in the A-10 after all?

Click the play button below to see and hear our latest edition of projo SportsTalk with Paul Kenyon. I asked Paul about something I read recently on the URI Bulletin Board -- despite their protests to the contrary, are the Rams really just a ninth-place A-10 team, as predicted before the season? I also asked about the failure of the Rams to adjust to Richmond's inside scoring success earlier this week, about the health of Keith Cothran and Delroy James, and about the dangers posed by struggling George Washington.
Here's what Paul said about whether ninth place is really about right for the Rams:
"The way things are going now, absolutely. They're obviously struggling. The problem now becomes not just the opponent, but themselves and how they're going to handle all this. If you're sitting somewhere else in the league and looking at things, I'm sure [you're saying], 'Rhode Island ninth, we've said that all along.' But I still insist, after I've seen them play 19 games so far, that they're better than that. They keep talking about how they feel they're better than that. If you force me to make a prediction now, I still think they're going to finish better than that."
As long as Jim Sr. is the coach this team will continue to under perform. With Skerry gone as his recruiter I don't see a bright future in Kingston-- do you? Please make the hard decision to leave the fact that Jim Sr. is a quality man as a person and look strictly at his coaching- are you impressed?

Coach Baron is unable to get this talented team to perform at the next level, for 40min on the floor.
Why does no member of the local media take Baron to task for this established pattern of failure in close games and general mismangement of personnel?

Paul - you are too close to the program to be objective. While there is talent there, it does not pay to its ability. The coaching and bad decision making and cruicial errors of these players kills them time after time. Their poor record in close games is not due to bad luck. It has happened too frequently. They beat themselves and they are responsible for their fate. That is the sad reality.
