Kevin talks about the encouraging signs from the Friars in their first two conference games (especially on defense), the rebounding challenge presented by Cincinnati, defending Bearcats star guard Deonta Vaughn, and the Big East's feat of landing nine teams in the Top 25 this week.

Here's how Kevin compares Cincinnati to Bearcats teams of the recent past:

"They're actually very different. To Mick Cronin's credit -- he's the third-year head coach at Cincinnati -- he's a very good recruiter. He's brought in good players, highly touted players. That has yet to transfer to wins and losses, although I think that everyone thinks that this is a team that can contend for an NCAA Tournament bid. I'm not convinced on that, but they are very different in that they are much bigger and stronger. Yancy Gates, a 6-9, 260-pound freshman, kind of fell into their laps. He grew up right here in Cincinnati, and he's off to a very good start; he's one of the better young big men in the country. Mike Williams is a 240-pound transfer from the University of Texas -- really a very good get -- and those two guys have kind of changed the look of the team. They want to go inside a little bit more. They really, really rebound the ball; their rebound margin is plus-nine, which is third in the league and one of the best in the country. That's a major concern for the Friars tonight."
