PROVIDENCE - The Friars and DePaul are getting ready to tip off at The Dunk.
A crowd of about 8,500 is expected but the PC officials are privately hoping for a large walk-up crowd to push it towards 10,000. We'll see.
This game seems like a must-win for Providence to me. There are so few road games that the Friars seemingly can get that beating a DePaul at home is neccesary if the Friars hope to make a push towards a .500 Big East record.
By the way, there are some serious under-classmen in The House. Top-flight New England juniors Gerald Coleman, a guard from Boston who is enrolled at Tilton (NH) Academy; Carson Desrosiers, a 6-10 center from Lawrence Central Catholic; and Evan Smotrycz, a 6-8 forward from Reading, Mass., who is prepping at the New Hampton School are here.
Sophomore Nadir Tharpe, a Worcester native who is at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, is expected, too. So is freshman Nerlins Noel, a 6-8 forward from Everett (Mass.) High who could be a national-level recruit as well.
