Kevin discusses the Friars' hot shooting last week against Bryant, the coming matchup with St. John's, the importance for the Friars of starting the Big East season 2-0, and last night's surprising rout of UConn by Georgetown.
Here's an excerpt from Kevin's comments about the UConn-Georgetown game:
"Georgetown has an elite, big-time freshman center in Greg Monroe, and he took it right at Hasheem Thabeet, UConn's All-American big guy, and Thabeet really struggled the entire way. [It was] kind of a coming out party for Greg Monroe. And I think anyone who was sleeping on Georgetown -- Georgetown has won the regular season the last two seasons for a reason. They obviously have an excellent coach in John Thompson III, but they [also] have good players, and an awful lot of them are back, as well as the addition of Greg Monroe. They are going to be a candidate [to win the conference] all the way through. But what it [also] shows me is that home or away, the best teams can win. And UConn had better watch its stripes, wherever it goes. Even though they're number two in the country, it's irrelevant. They can be beaten on many different nights in a league like this."
