PROVIDENCE - The Friars have trounced Brown, 86-62, with one of the their better defensive efforts of the season.
PC limited Brown to 33 percent shooting in pulling away midway through the first half and never being threatened again. The Friars led 48-25 at the break. Brown, to its credit, hung tough in the second half and kept the game from turning truly ugly.
Marshon Brooks led the Friars with 22 points and three 3-pointers. Randall Hanke (13 and 10) and Jonathan Kale (13 and 8) proved to be much too much for the Bears in the lane.
PC improves to 5-3 and has URI up next Saturday. Brown, which was led by Peter Sullivan's 16 points, falls to 3-4.
What a game for Brooks...did most of his damage in the first half again, but some of those shots he hit were unbelievable...especially when he BLOCKED a three-pointer, got it, drove all the way down the court, and took the defender one-on-one somehow squeezing by for a sweet layup.
