PROVIDENCE - Live by the three, die by the three?
Hopefully that is not the motto for the Providence Friars this season but it is clear that when the Friars shoot the ball from downtown, they are dangerous. PC racked up 13 threes tonight and routed Sacred Heart, 111-87.

The Friars scored 100 points in a win over Dartmouth on Tuesday and have now put up back-to-back 100 point games for the first time since the 1990-91 season.

How much does Keno Davis like his team's shooting ability?

``We can beat anybody in the country when we shoot the ball well,'' Davis insisted. ``We've got enough talent out there to be able to beat the best in the country. The shot has to go down for us to do that. If the shot isn't going down we have to find other ways to win but to beat the best the shot has to go down and our guys have worked incredibly hard from the end of last season until now coming into the gym and working on their shot. They know that's going to be a big factor in how far we're going to be able to go this year.''

The Friars have allowed 82 points to Dartmouth and 87 to Sacred Heart but a lot of that has to do with how free and loose the offense is running. The halfcourt defense is certainly shoddy at times but Davis is stressing an increased pace and is happy with his eight-player rotation. He hopes to extend that to nine once Alex Kellogg's knee improves. That may happen as early as Saturday's game against Maine.
