The Friars didn't exactly show much defensive prowess but still had too much firepower for Dartmouth tonight at The Dunk and won, 100-82.
The Big Green scored just 48 points in a season-opening loss to Army but they were able to get just about anything they wanted most of this game. PC pressed most of the way and did a decent job, turning the Ivy foes over 17 times. But Dartmouth scored a whopping 46 points on the Friars in the second half.
Afterwards, the Friars were happy. Keno Davis seemed pleased with his team's effort and insisted that is his biggest priority. He liked th efact that his big men are rebounding the ball extremely well (53-33) and that the players took the ball to the hoop more and attempted an amazing 46 free throws (to 14 for Dartmouth).
We featured the vastly-improved play of Marshon Brooks in a story for Wednesday's Journal. We also touched on what could be a big day for the Friars' on the recruit front as not one (Chris Colvin) but two (Johnnie Lacy) point guards are currently thinking about signing with Providence on the final day of the early signing period.
The Friars would take both guards if they could, according to sources. Stay tuned.
