It should be a big recruiting weekend for the Providence Friars even though not much will take place on the PC campus.
PC will hold its annual Mal Brown scrimmage Saturday at 1 p.m. but the coaching staff's recruiting eyes will be elsewhere. Three targets PC has plenty of interest in are visiting other schools this weekend.
Point guard Chris Colvin, perhaps the key to a strong fall signing class for Keno Davis and his staff, is visiting Big East rival Marquette. Colvin has already visited Providence and is also looking at Iowa State and Southern California. He is regarded as one of the elite players in the state of Illinois, if not the best prospect in Chicago.
Also, 6-10 center Blake McLimans of Buffalo and Worcester Academy is visiting Michigan this weekend. McLimans was at Providence last week and came away very impressed according to a report on Rivals.com recruiting service.
"Blake wants to see what Michigan is like," Don Marsh, McLimans' AAU coach, told Rivals. "He really likes Providence a lot, though. He is sort of comparing schools to Providence. He just needs to see what Michigan is all about with a new coach and everything. I know he'll be looking at the early playing time situation. He doesn't want to go some where and sit."
McLimans has already visited Siena, Hofstra and PC and is also hearing from UConn and Boston College. He is regarded as an excellent high post big man with deep range on his jumper.
The Friars are in dire need of some more physical big men and one player on the radar is now Markhuri Sanders-Frison. He is a junior college forward at South Plains (Tx.) who is a burly 6-8 and 270 pounds. Sanders-Frison played at Eastern Arizona College last year and helped the team to the national JUCO finals. He is visiting California this weekend and also likes Arizona State, Idaho, San Francisco and Providence. It could be difficult to get the Oregon native to come East, however.
PC is expecting signed letters-of-intent from five players already. Davis has heard back from guards Antoine Allen and Duke Mondy, wing shooter Kyle Wright and forward James Still and Kadeem Batts. A pure point guard and more frontcourt size are next on the list.

You do realize that Colvin already took an official visit to Iowa State as well, don't you?
