PC's walking wounded

It's a week into practice and the Friars now have three players on the sidelines. Good thing it's only Oct. 20.

Frosh guard Marshon Brooks has joined Sharaud Curry and Chuck Burch on the injured list. Brooks is nursing a badly turned ankle that has him on crutches. He's expected to miss at least a week but could be back by next Saturday's Mal Brown scrimmage.

Burch is moving better but has a sore hamstring. Curry is working out on a bicycle and in the pool but is still wearing a mobilization boot. He could be out until mid-November.

Without Curry and Brooks, the Friars' point guard play is really marginalized. Only Dwain Williams could be termed a `point guard' and that makes for some ragged offensive stretches in practices.

Thus far, Tim Welsh's focus has been on his team's defense. Let's just say that practices have been loud, physical and very, very ragged. Attention to detail has been emphasized. Loudly.
