Here are a few notes from the summer recruiting trail for PC & URI fans.
First, the Rams remain quite busy. One day after getting a verbal commit from Canadian wing Randy Dezouvre, the Rams have reportedly struck again. This time it's Philly wing Jamal Wilson. A 6-4 small forward, Wilson played on a powerhouse team at St. John Neumann Goretti High alongside two All-City players who'll be freshmen at Syracuse next month, 6-9 Rick Jackson and 6-2 Antonio Jardine. Wilson was the `garbage man' on those teams. He averaged 11 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals a game.
Wilson gives the Rams four commits for the class of 2008. He and Dezouvre join guard Stevie Mejia and center John Hagarty, all of whom should sign with the Rams in November.
The Rams graduate three players off this year's team and could sign as many as six players for the fall of 2008.
PC left for its trip to Italy Wednesday but before they left town two recruits stopped in to watch practice. They are New Jersey natives Dominique Rutledge and Billy Oliver, two players the Friars have shadowed a lot this summer.
The biggest name recruit PC was in with is off the board. New London, Conn., star Allan Chaney says he's headed to Florida. PC and URI were two of the first D1 schools to eye Chaney but his stock rose out of the local's league.
