THE SCOUTING REPORT
SYRACUSE (19-8, 8-5 Big East): With three games remaining in the regular season, Syracuse is in position to post 20 wins and 10 in the Big East. SU has won 20 or more for the last nine seasons and in 28 of Jim Boeheim's 30 seasons as coach. . . Went 7-9 in the conference last season but have won 10 or more Big East games 19 times. . The Orange hasn't played since beating Connecticut last Saturday in Syracuse, 73-63. The win avenged a loss at UConn on Feb. 5, Syracuse's last defeat. Have won last three games and four of five overall. . . Nichols leads the Big East in scoring. Fifteen of his 21 career 20-point games have come this season. He averaged 13.3 points as a junior. . . Harris comes off the bench and provides great energy. He had 16 points and 11 rebounds against UConn. . . SU can be an explosive shooting team. Hitting 45 percent from the field and 37 percent on threes.
PROVIDENCE (17-9, 7-6 Big East): The Friars hope to build on a two-game winning streak and a sterling 16-2 home record. Only Notre Dame (17-0) and West Virginia (13-1) own better home marks among Big East teams. The 16 home wins are the most since the 1991 season. PC ends the regular season next week with games at South Florida and St. John's . . PC has lost five of its last six meetings with Syracuse. Last win came at The Dunk in 2004. . . Friars are 15-1 when Efejuku scores 13 or more points. He tied a career-high with 24 points in a 64-61 win over West Virginia on Tuesday. . . McDermott hasn't scored more than eight points in his last three games and four of the last six. . . Curry had a season-low three points against WVU. The three points is the second-lowest total in his career. He scored two points in a loss at Wichita State last season. . . A win today would lock in at least a .500 mark in Big East play. PC has finished .500 or above 10 times in the 27-year history of the conference. Tim Welsh's teams have done it four times.
